GOLDEN BOOT MEDIA PTY LTD is a dynamic start-up in Australia’s digital media landscape aiming to disrupt with its first project, which will focus on football (soccer) and be announced shortly, to be launched later in 2025. Golden Boot Media has been founded by David Weiner and Antony Pinshaw to provide a platform for passionate, talented and multi-skilled digital storytellers, who want to take the next step in their careers and are up for the challenge of building a new brand with world class best practice and a desire to innovate and inspire. All employees would be expected to have a passion for producing multimedia, digital football content and would require a deep knowledge of the sport, both domestically and globally.
The Role
We are seeking a Social Media & Video Manager to lead the strategy, ideation and execution of world-class social content across our platforms, working directly alongside our Managing Editor. This role requires an experienced, agile, football-savvy content creator who can plan, produce and publish autonomously and with impact.
As a key member of our founding team, this role will be empowered to bring innovation and ideas to the table, implement foundational structures, help establish our tone of voice as well as establish and drive the organisation’s video workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for strategy and execution to drive the off-platform growth, awareness and engagement of the brand across all available channels.
Responsible for implementation of the technical workflows to produce the world class social media video content that will drive this audience.
Responsible for the day to day publishing cadence on our social media platforms.
Responsible for developing and managing the content calendar and roster and identifying holes where freelance contributions are needed from social media producers, content creators and amplifiers.
Work with the Managing Editor on the off-platform distribution, while ensuring consistency and collaboration across our site and social channels in terms of tone and prioritisation.
Analyse and produce reports on performance.

Content Strategy & Execution
Develop and execute a social content plan with weekly and monthly requirements catering for brand, editorial and commercial goals, as well as long term/major events such as Asian Cups and World Cups.
Set the standard in Australian social media publishing, crafting scroll-stopping, viral, share-worthy, agenda setting content around the football news agenda.
Adapt to being in a non-rights environment by coming up with compelling video ideas that advance the brand.
Have an intimate understanding of the mechanics of each platform and tailor/prioritise content accordingly.
Plan and execute social media content plans with and for commercial partners as and when required.
Work with a deep commitment to best practice across video, image and copy on social media, also willing to adjust according to data and feedback.
Opportunity to explore other areas of the business, such as: shooting/filming/producing, writing, on camera execution and podcasting.
Leadership & Collaboration
Mentor junior producers and freelance contributors to uphold content quality.
Collaborate across the small foundational team.
Contribute innovative ideas.
Coordinate with external stakeholders.
Platform Management & Innovation
Own publishing across all social platforms and identify emerging formats, features, or new channels.
Optimise content for algorithms, trends, and formats — from Reels and Shorts to Threads and TikTok series.
Take initiative to test new approaches and develop new content franchises or IP.
Lead community management of our accounts and crafting replies where our brand is discussed in external environments.
Performance & Reporting
Use data and insights to refine content execution.
Track and analyse post and campaign performance, platform growth, and audience sentiment.
Recommend adjustments to strategy based on real-time performance indicators.
Who You Are
An elite creative and strategic editorial leader with a passion for football and digital media.
Highly motivated to work in a fast paced, small team, start-up environment with ambitious and aggressive growth targets.
Experienced in building editorial calendars, managing contributors and rosters, and sourcing, creating editing or commissioning high-quality journalism.
A lateral thinker who can apply different storytelling techniques on a platform-by-platform basis.
A disruptor with fresh ideas on how to cover sport and a deep knowledge of the football, media and platform landscape in 2025.
Equally comfortable writing headlines, building stories, working independently, briefing talent, analysing data, or coordinating across disciplines.
An advocate for inclusive storytelling, diverse voices, and building fan-first content ecosystems.

Experience & Qualifications
4+ years experience in social media and video production in the fast-paced, shift orientated world of sport or media.
Deep knowledge and passion for football, with an expertise in Australian football.
Exceptional copywriting and creative judgment.
Hands-on skills in video editing (e.g. Adobe Premiere, CapCut) and graphic design (Photoshop, Canva etc). Nice to have: ability to shoot social content, on location or otherwise.
Strong TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Reels creative background.
Strong understanding of the current social media landscape and ability to ideate on a platform by platform basis.
A proven ability to create viral, high-performing social content across multiple formats.
Experience working live shifts around matches and tight turnaround deadlines.
Outstanding attention to detail and editorial instincts.
Comfortable working flexible hours including weekends and evenings around live events.
Ability to work collaboratively in a small team while able to absorb the responsibility that comes with making decisions, sometimes independently, on deadline or out of hours.
